Working with the Savannah Bananas is fun, challenging, and exciting. We have a team of extremely talented and positive people who are committed and energized by our mission. When it comes to the Bananas, they live and breathe “Fans First, Entertain Always.”  

The Fans First way guides our team and teammates to embody caring, different, enthusiastic, fun, growing, and hungry. Everyone shows personal and professional growth, and they are constantly serving and impacting others. We’ve built an All-Star team of the best creators, performers, and doers in business. We constantly bring on people who contribute to the atmosphere of intelligence, passion, and fun! The team is obsessed with challenging the status quo and finding a better way to do almost everything for our fans.

THE POSITION

The experience of a Banana Ball show begins as soon as our fans get out of their cars at the stadium and stand in line. At the front of that line is the very first member of our cast that will make an impression on our fans: the Plaza DJ!

The Plaza DJ is the true first impression of Bananaland for thousands of our passionate fans. This person is outside playing tunes and interacting with the audience hours before the show begins until we open the gates, throughout the game for any fans who like to linger near the plaza, and immediately after the game during our Plaza Party where the cast and players all come out to sign autographs, take pictures, and do just a little more singing and dancing!

The Plaza DJ has an incredibly essential role in our show. They are an energy giver and an energy facilitator, keeping a crowd that waits in line for hours to see the show upbeat and joyful until the moment finally arrives when they can go inside.

This DJ has extensive experience DJing events and a broad base of knowledge of the technical aspects of the craft. The Plaza DJ will be configuring multiple speakers, microphones, and amplifiers throughout their day and will also engage the crowd on the microphone. The Plaza DJ is also an active part of our pre-pre-show, interacting with the hosts and coordinating the scripted musical events of that part of the show.

Vision for Savannah Bananas Entertainment Team

The Savannah Bananas, Party Animals, and now Firefighters are 24/7/365 brands for people from all over the world to experience and enjoy. We have an incredible story to tell the world and we need the right person to make this happen.

As the most electric and fun teams in sports, the experience any external media team or personality has interacting with representatives of Banana Ball or at a Banana Ball game needs to be reflective of the first-class and unique experience Fans also have in person or see online.

We must facilitate this first-class experience through all interactions and communications with the goal of building relationships and leaving an impression that ultimately makes fans out of those who are sharing our story for “their work.”

We must have efficient processes that enable us to not only field and vet inbound requests, but also take a proactive approach to forming new relationships. Similarly, we must be able to not simply lean on key people within the organization to share our story the right way, but also to continue to grow and develop other individuals to be able to share the story as well.

The Plaza DJ’s decisions are made with a WIN-WIN-WIN mentality ensuring the fans win, our teammates win, and the organization wins.

How can I create the energy in a crowd of thousands of people?

How can I change the energy in a crowd of thousands of people?

How can I meaningfully connect with fans on a microphone?

 

Key Performance Points

  • Able to demonstrate a strong on-stage presence, like-a-bility, approachability, overall fun and funny, and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Maintain great situational awareness, constantly assessing and reassessing the situation and responding by playing the appropriate songs/sound effects
  • Willingness to dance and sing along with the music, infecting the crowd with your own energy in response to what’s going on (unlike being up in a press box, the crowd can see you!)
  • Can handle constructive feedback and adapt to real-time game calls and direction from Entertainment Coordinators, Director, and Owner
  • Strong ability to work well in a team environment
  • Prepared to troubleshoot/problem solve on the fly while remaining communicative and calm during challenging situations
  • Available for vast majority, if not all, Banana Ball games on the 2024 World Tour
  • Mastery of audio/DJ equipment and software
  • Has a deep understanding of baseball and an even stronger excitement towards the game of Banana Ball

THE PROCESS

This process will be unlike any interview, hiring, or audition process you have been through. We take our brand, culture, and show very seriously. This means we are looking for not only a fantastic DJ/Host, but a perfect fit for our brand.

The application and audition process will involve multiple steps and may include the following touchpoints in addition to other requests that will allow us to see not only what skills you will bring to our organization, but your organizational contributions as well:

  • Audition video – We absolutely need to see you in action DJing and Hosting! We recommend crafting something specific for this job, but we also encourage you to send footage of your performances with live audiences
  • Conversation with our Cast Director and Entertainment Director
  • Conversation with Savannah Bananas Owner, Jesse Cole
  • In-Person Audition
